TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 8:00am – 4:00pm, M-F, nine (9) months, academic school year of the students enrolled.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, experience in social work, counseling, child development or other human service program, complete an on-line certification in Family Services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct home visits to identify needs and goals for each family.
- Complete Family Partnership Agreements with families and make referrals to community agencies as appropriate.
- Assist families in emergency situations and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Inform families about educational opportunities and community resources.
- Plan and facilitate parent engagement activities for the program, such as parent classes, parent committee meetings, family activities, and take-home projects.
- Provide parent trainings on a variety of topics.
- Collaborate with classroom staff to meet needs of children and families with a goal of improving child outcomes.
- Collaborate with health staff to complete health follow-ups.
- Document all contacts and follow-ups in Child Plus data system.
- Collaborate with community partners and document community partnerships.
- Assist in recruiting and enrolling eligible children and their families.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct with all Head Start children, families, colleagues, and the community.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and groups in home and school settings.
- Experience working with families from diverse racial and economic backgrounds.
- Must be self-directed and highly motivated.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (orally and written) and use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, as well as basic office equipment.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about Head Start Performance Standards and Parent, Family, and Community Engagement framework.
- Ability to follow directions, work with a team, solve problems, and exercise good judgment under stressful situations.
EVALUATION: Annual written evaluation by the supervisor.
