Position Vacancy for 2020-2021 School Year

 

Qualifications:     North Dakota Teaching License. Teaching experience preferred.

                            Background/licensure in reading / dyslexia interventions preferred.

                            Grant funded position; candidates will receive dyslexia training 

                             

Reports To:          Assistant Superintendent


Responsibilities:

 

  • Participate in district sponsored training around evidenced based dyslexia intervention methodologies and identification tools. This training will provide foundational knowledge in dyslexia intervention strategies the candidate will utilize during student interventions. 
  • Collaborate with outside expert organizations in an effort to educate colleagues and the broader community around dyslexia signs and interventions
  • Work with classroom teachers to identify student placement for dyslexia interventions using district-wide criteria 
  • Coordinate a professional team consisting of reading specialist(s); counselor; teaching staff; and administration with whom to collaborate around programming and monitor student progress
  • Monitor STAR, Fountas and Pinnell, and program growth data for each student
  • Interpret data with teachers, reading specialists, and administrators to help set student and teacher goals in reading
  • Provide professional development / classroom strategies for dyslexia interventions that could be implemented across curricular areas to propel academic growth
  • Communicate growth data, implemented instructional strategies, and progress to all constituents
  • Work with teachers and reading specialists to develop a comprehensive common structure and common assessments for reading strategies and supports for the whole classroom and specific students when needed
  • Communicate program structures and growth data building wide at the beginning, middle and end of the year; record and track data for grant purposes
  • Track student attendance throughout the year during dyslexia intervention
  • Fluid in data compilation and analysis


Position open until filled.

 

A teaching contract is 188 days beginning August 18, 2020.

 

The New Teacher Workshop for all teachers new to the Grand Forks Public Schools will be held the 2nd week in August, dates to be determined.
