Description

Full-time Mental Health / Social Emotional Learning Specialist working at the Mentor Center until May 2021.  This temporary position is GEER grant funded.

 

Variable hours Monday through Friday, 2 pm to 8 pm.

This may be a full or part-time position depending on availability.

Benefits may be eligible based on hours available to work.

 

Education: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work preferred or related fields are also considered

 

Reports to: Director of the Mentor Center; Assistant Superintendent

 

Job Goals: Provide services related to student and family social, emotional, academic, and life functions and overall well-being. Establish positive, trusting, supporting relationships as a foundation to effectively serving students and their families. Provide resources and facilitate activities that promote social skills, peer and adult connection, and individual capacity in a variety of social-emotional competencies.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Establish and maintain trusting, collaborative, professional relationships with all constituents.
  2. Provide direct practice lessons and services that foster social and emotional competency.
  3. Mobilize school and community resources to maximize student academic and behavior success; Identify and connect community services to staff, students, and families.
  4. Provide social-emotional support and counseling related services to individuals, groups, or families.
  5. Demonstrate cultural competency and trauma informed practices in daily interactions.
  6. Collaborate with mentor center staff and school campuses to enhance student learning.
  7. Contribute to a safe and healthy work and learning culture at the mentor center.
  8. Provide specialized services such as crisis intervention and consultation as needs arise.
  9. Maintain student confidentiality and the highest ethical standards.

Evaluation: Written evaluation by the Mentor Center Coordinator.
