Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year, possible part time or full-time options. Hours scheduled at the designated school, M-F.
Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency preferred
Qualifications: Human relations skills and academic skills. Experience working with the education of children preferred. Familiarity with American Indian/Native American culture. Experience working with American Indian/Native American families/children. Knowledge or familiarity with the Native American Program.
Job Goal: Assist the American Indian/Native American students with assigned school
homework, and special projects. Staff with a variety of academic specialties are needed, covering all subject areas.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assists American Indian/Native American students with classroom activities.
- Work with students individually or in small groups.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned in the classroom by the student(s) Teacher(s).
- Works collaboratively with the Native American Program.
- Keeping a professional confidential relationship with students and school staff.
- Performs related duties as assigned and/or as circumstances require.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely. Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Native American Program Coordinator.
