Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year
Hours: 8:00am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday
Update: Any one hired March 1 or after will be hired as a Substitute for the remainder of the school year with no benefits being offered.
Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred
Qualifications: Classroom teaching experience preferred. Willingness to participate in summer training sessions. Proficient technology skills. Excellent leadership and collaboration skills. Understanding of, experience in, and commitment to Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) model.
Job Goal: he main role of the Title I Interventionist is to provide systematic intervention to the most “at-risk” students.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and deliver instruction to identified students in the classroom, in small group or one-on-one as needed.
- Assess and monitor students’ progress and communicate with Literacy and Math Specialists if students are not making expected growth.
- Support behavior plans for students whose behavior interferes with their or others’ learning and monitor progress.
- Analyze individual student academic and behavioral data for the purpose of increasing student achievement and making informed decisions relative to instruction/interventions.
- Collaborate with other teachers for the purpose of increasing student achievement.
- Participate in building and district professional development related to role.
- Participate in MTSS problem solving team meetings when student referrals are made.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Occasionally may need to lift up to fifty (50) lbs; reaching, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling within the classroom.
The employee may encounter situations where students are physically aggressive and/or verbally abusive. This may require physical interaction (using strategies acquired through de-escalation and restraint training) between the employee and student. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average person. May be directly responsible for the safety, well-being and/or output of students.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher, Building Administrator.
