Full-time Instructional Paraprofessional at Twining Elementary / Middle School.

 

If you are hired for this position, you will receive $200 upon successful performance and consistent employment in June at the completion of the school year if referred by a Grand Forks Public School current employee. Terms of Employment:  Nine (9) months, academic school year

Hours:  8:00am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday

 

Education: Must have a bachelor’s degree in education or related field.  Preference to applicants with North Dakota Teaching License.

 

Qualifications: Human relations skills, basic academic skills, ability to work on teams, experience working with appropriate grade level of students, and demonstrates effective communication skills.

 

Job Goal: Assist and occasionally lead the supervision of classroom instruction and classroom activities. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: 

  1. Assist all children during instructional activities under the direction and supervision of teachers.
  2. Assist with the implementation of the teacher planned activities to reinforce skill instruction.
  3. Assist in the creation of lesson plans and planned activities.
  4. Implement and carry out teachers’ classroom schedules.
  5. Instruct small group and large group instruction.
  6. Assist in classroom preparation for daily activities.
  7. Provide students with guidance and a social/emotional climate that enhances teaching and learning.
  8. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other staff members.
  9. Be responsive to students in a respectful, supportive manner with frequent interaction and engagement.
  10. Attend professional development exercises and any meeting determined by classroom teacher and principal.
  11. Assist with attendance follow up and communication with teachers, students, and parents.
  12. Assist with clerical duties and develop instructional materials.
  13. Complete other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal and by classroom teachers.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely.  Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.


Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher, Building Administrator.
