If you are hired for this position, you will receive $200 upon successful performance and consistent employment in June at the completion of the school year if referred by a Grand Forks Public School current employee. Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months

Hours:  7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday

 

 

Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency plus additional specialized training in electrical trades. Journeyman's electrical license.

 

Qualifications: Valid journeyman electrician license issued by the relevant state or local authority.

 

Job Goal: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician - Journeyman to join our team. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. You will work on a variety of projects, ensuring that electrical systems are operating at their highest level of performance and safety.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Installation: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components in accordance with local and national electrical codes.

Safety: Ensure that all work complies with safety regulations and follows best practices for electrical work to prevent accidents and hazards. Respond to emergencies during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical problems and provide effective solutions to address issues with wiring, circuits, and equipment.

Blueprints and Diagrams: Interpret and work from technical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the layout and installation of electrical systems.

Equipment: Select, install, and maintain electrical equipment, including switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.

Testing: Conduct tests and inspections to identify faulty wiring or equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.

Upgrades: Perform electrical upgrades and modifications to improve system performance and energy efficiency.

Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to explain work, provide cost estimates, and address any questions or concerns. Monitors contract work for the purpose of ensuring contract terms are fulfilled and work standards are met.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete projects within specified timelines.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including materials used and time spent on each project.

Continuing Education: Stay current with industry trends, technology, and regulations through ongoing training and professional development.

Knowledge: Proficient in electrical systems, equipment, and tools, with a solid understanding of electrical codes and safety protocols.

Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints and diagrams, troubleshoot electrical issues, and install electrical systems.

Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and clients effectively.

Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve electrical issues.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous in performing tasks and ensuring the quality of work.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. Ladder use and heights are part of this position. Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

           

Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months   

 

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation by the supervisor.
