This posting covers multiple positions at various schools for the 2018-2019 school year.  

 

Applications will be received, reviewed, and interviews completed by the School Principals for job openings throughout the school year.

 

Interviews will begin the mid-July.

 

First day of school is August 27, 2018 for grades K-9.

First day of school is August 28, 2018 for grades 10-12.

 

Hours:  8:00 am - 3:30 pm (hours may very) 32.5/hr week when school is in session

 

 

Special Education Paraprofessional

Education:  High School Diploma or High School Equivalency

 

For most positions candidates must meet one of the following requirements to be considered: 

  1. Associates (or higher) degree (attach transcript in attachment section)
  1. Working knowledge in reading, writing, and math by completing two years (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education. (attach transcript in attachment section) 
  1. Pass the ParaPro Assessment test which is a North Dakota approved assessment of skills in reading, writing, and math. There are a limited number of positions in which candidates who do not satisfy the requirements stated above will be considered for employment.

 

 

Additional qualifications for all positions are:  Ability to work with a variety of student behaviors and educational needs in a variety of educational settings, ability to work as a team member, human relation skills, communication skills, ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. 

  

 

Special Education Paraprofessional Job Description:

Assists students with disabilities in a variety of school settings, under the supervision of teachers/related services personnel. Responsibilities may include all or several of the following:

  1. Assist in carrying out activities to achieve goals and objectives listed in the students' Individual Educational Plans.
  2. Assist students in instructional activities, curriculum modification and adaptations with the planning and supervision of the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher.
  3. Assist students who have limited mobility.
  4. Assist in monitoring adaptive equipment, including but not limited to, hearing aids/auditory trainers, standers, splints, braces, assistive technology devices, wheelchairs, and feeding devices.
  5. Assist students in the development of self-help skills including, but not limited to, feeding, toileting, and dressing to allow the student to benefit from the school environment.
  6. Assist in the provision of accommodations including, but not limited to, diapering, positioning, reading and writing.
  7. Supervise students individually and in small and large groups with the planning and direction of the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher.
  8. Assist students in developing self-management skills.
  9. Assist teachers in classroom management.
  10. Assist students in loading and unloading safely from buses and vans.
  11. Assist students in other ways as assigned by teachers, principals, or coordinator.
  12. Participate in training to acquire specific skills needed to perform responsibilities.
  13. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior.
